Album Review Guidelines

If you have a new album that you would like reviewed, please read the following guidelines before sending it our way. Our address is located below.

  1. Please send a professionally packaged CD. (No CD-R and no Digital Files) This is to insure that a physical album release is definitive.
  2. If possible, include a press package with info on the recording process and band members. (this helps up write a more insightful review of your album. )
  3. An e-mail address or contact number. (We will want to inform you that a review has been written.)
  4. Inform us of your website, MySpace, Bebo, etc.

Please note that the sooner you send us your CD prior to your "official" CD release date, the better the chance of having a review written in time for the release. Depending on the amount of albums in front of yours awaiting review, it typically takes us 30-45 days to give it a full listen and conduct the review. All reviews will be posted on Ocean View Press.com and depending on your location, we may have it published in a local print magazine as well (this however, is not guaranteed .) It is important to mention that not all albums delivered to us will receive a review. If we feel that It is not up to par with the type of music we regularly endorse or it just doesn't inspire us, then we will not post a review. Like the age-old adage states, "if you don't have anything good to say, don't say it at all." We are an artist friendly site and even though your music isn't our particular brand of Kool Aid, we would never post a negative review of your work.

  • We only review independent releases (No Major labels)
  • We review music from ALL over the world.
  • We do not review Children's albums, Religious, Opera/Classical or hatred laced music of any sort.
  •  Again, if the music is not to our liking, we will not post a negative review. We will simply pass your album along to someone who may be more receptive to your artistry. This rarely happens but believe us, it's nothing personal in the event that it does.
  • Please do not contact us during the review process. We will contact you when a review is written. Continual contact puts the reviewer in an awkward position of trying to maintain impartiality, and makes them uncomfortable about reviewing your album.

We take pride in our support for independent artists. We want to assist you in getting the word out on your project in anyway possible. Thank you for stopping by and we look forward to hearing your work.
