Sonic Odyssey

Over the past couple of years, we have been missing an important element on this site. The missing part of the puzzle shall we say. Finally, after months and months of searching, we finally discovered someone worthy of delivering live music reviews of local bands and abroad. Her name is Tracey and she will be sending us her live reviews of bands performing in the New England area. Tracey is the founder of Sonic Odyssey and we have teamed up to help promote the Boston music scene to readers from New England and beyond.

Visit Sonic Odyssey and say hello.

Sonic Odyssey's Best of 2005
darknewday.jpgDark New Day gets my vote for band of the year because of their explosive debut on the music scene with "Twelve Year Silence" and even more impressive live performance. Twelve Year Silence is a powerful collection that extracts emotion after emotion and affects me on many levels. I can't get sick of it! It's a good thing DND is back in the studio to give us more in 2006. Watch out for this band... they are HOT!!

Seemless opens for P.O.D.

12/12/05 - Seemless opens for P.O.D.

Local band Seemless opened for P.O.D. on Monday at Axis with a powerhouse performance. Their heavy catchy riffs were quite a contrast to P.O.D.'s popish-reggae-rock -- an unusual pairing -- but apparently, P.O.D. requested Seemless as the opening act.  The crowd seemed pleased with the choice with head bops and enthusiastic applause, saving their energy for P.O.D.'s act. A really fun show!!

Prospect Hill- Even if you didn't make it out last night, take from one who did... they blew away their competition! These talented and energetic youngsters, based out of Methuen MA, never fail to put on an entertaining performance. They ROCK!

Living Syndication at Old Glory 11-15-2005

Old Glory (store)
Mall of New Hampshire
Manchester, MA

In honor of Old Glory's anniversary party, the Dracut MA-based band, Living Syndication, performed 2 sets over the course of 2 hours in an intimate settings at the front of the store. Now I've never heard of a concert at a mall, so this was a new experience ... and the most fun I've ever had at a mall! I usually avoid malls, but in this case, how could I turn down an opportunity to hear a very cool, up-and-coming band? (Especially since I missed their last live performance at the Middle East back in August)

The quartet played familiar material from their first CD "Om" plus several songs from their upcoming CD "Aneurythm" -- hopefully to be released some time in January.  Additionally, they played an Alice in Chains cover, "No Excuses" (at least I think that's the one -- someone correct me if I'm wrong, would you?). As a huge AIC fan, this was the icing on the cake! How cool are these guys or what?

Personally I love the sound of Living Syndication cuz it reminds me of Alice in Chains crossed with Perfect Circle. I'm very touched by the music, both melodically and lyrically. I hate to admit it, but I got pretty emotional when they played 13 Minutes ... I had to hold back some tears cuz I was in public, but had I been alone I probably would've cried like a baby. It's a special thing when music moves you like that.

So thanks to Living Syndication & the staff of Old Glory for putting on
this unique show and giving me my first live LS experience :o)
